Carrollton Open House- Thursday

Calling all Carrollton Families-

Don't forget the Open House is this Thursday, August 30th from 2-4 and 5-6:30.  You will be able to meet your teacher and REALLY get psyched for the new school year.

Carrollton's First Business Partner- the Frilly Lilly!

Carrollton Elementary is incredibly excited to introduce our first Business Partner- the Frilly Lilly!  The Frilly Lilly is owned by a proud Carrollton Elementary mother (Julie) and named after a current Carrollton Elementary Cardinal (Lilly).  Now the name makes complete sense, right?!!!  When you go by the store, ask Julie just who came up with the name and you'll be REALLY impressed.  I know that I was!

They are located at 132 Main Street in beautiful downtown Smithfield.  Frilly Lilly Map Location

The Frilly Lilly is currently running a special in which they will donate 10% of your purchase towards the Carrollton PTA.  Just be sure to identify yourself as a CAES family.  So NOW is the time to run by and pick up your bookbags, backpacks, gym bags, lunch boxes, etc for the new school year.  They also have a large assortment of other gifts that Julie can personalize for you.

Julie can also put the Carrollton Elementary logo on any piece of clothing that you bring into her.  Everything that Mrs. Novak and Mr. Goetz wear with the CAES logo comes from the Frilly Lilly.

Rumor has it that they're also coming up with some great looking "Bling" CAES shirts.  Think something like this...but with a Carrollton Elementary theme.

Thanks again to the Frilly Lilly for joining up with Carrollton Elementary to become our FIRST Business Partner!!! Make sure that you let Julie know that you're a proud Carrollton Cardinal family to get that donation to the CAES PTA.

Pre-K and Kindergarten Student Screening- August 24th

The New Student Screening for all Pre-K and Kindergarten students at Carrollton Elementary School will take place on Friday, August 24th from 9 AM until Noon.  The screenings are short and typically take 15-20 minutes.  These screenings help identify student's individual instructional levels and allow us to appropriately place each and every student in the right classroom and begin instruction the first week of school. 

In addition to the screening, basic school information will be presented, school tours given, and "practice" bus rides will be offered.  Finally, the Carrollton PTA, WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students), and other special Carrollton Elementary vendors will have tables offering information about their programs and services.

Please contact the school office or Mr. Goetz ( kgoetz@iwcs.k12.va.us ) if you have any questions or cannot bring your Pre-K or Kindergarten student to the event.

PTA Meet the CAES Administration Night

The Carrollton Elementary PTA will be sponsoring a "Meet the Carrollton Administration" night on Tuesday, August 14th from 7 until 8 at the school.  Light refreshments will be served and the event is family friendly, so bring your current, past, or future Carrollton Cardinals.

Virginia Tax Free Holiday
