It's Back......One School/One Book

Who could forget the adventures of Humphrey the Hamster?

Thanks to the generous support of the Carrollton Elementary PTA,

the students of CAES will be joining another rodent for their adventures.

Earthquake Shakeout Drill

Our students took part in the Southeast Earthquake Shake Out drill today, 10/17 at 10:17! They did a great job at "Drop, Cover, and Hold On!" 

SHS Homecoming Week

Smithfield High School Homecoming Week is almost here.  CAES will be joining the Packers in their Spirit Week Days:

Spirit Days: 

Monday: American Day

Tuesday: Twin Day

Wednesday: Disney/Character Day

Thursday: Breast Cancer Awareness Day

Friday: Blue and Gold Day

In addition, we're inviting all CAES students to take part in the SHS Homecoming Parade through downtown Smithfield on Friday, October 25th.  The parade begins at 4 PM so we're asking all CAES students (and a parent) to meet us at the Smithfield Public Library by 3:45.  Be sure to wear your CAES Spirit Wear!!!

Isle of Wight Education Foundation Gala- this Saturday

Carrollton Families-

The 2013 Isle of Wight Education Foundation Gala will be this Saturday at 5:30 at the Smithfield Center.  Ticket information is here:

The Foundation has provided thousands of dollars to CAES over the years.  Just this past school year, the Foundation gave over $5,000 to CAES.  Remember the adventures of Humphrey?  

One Book/One School last year was paid for ENTIRELY by the Foundation.  Other grants last year:

Accelerated Reader Presentation

Mr. Goetz read to several classes too...rumor has it that it's the first time he's worn blue jeans since high school!

Ms. Evans carefully watched Mr. Goetz to make sure that he didn't mispronounce any words...

Mrs. Duncan-Hinds, the IWCS Coordinator for English, came and read to several classes as well.

Read for the Record Day- TOMORROW!!!

CAES is going to "Read for the Record" tomorrow.  We're joining with other schools across the nation to read the story of Otis.  We have several guest speakers, including Superintendent Perera, coming to join us in our record-breaking effort.
