Carrollton Fire Dept comes to CAES for Fire Prevention Week

Each public school in the state is required to have a fire drill each month, but the October fire drill at CAES was especially exciting!  Through the generous efforts of the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, just after the fire alarm was pulled and all of the students were safely lined up outside the school, sirens sounded and two CVFD trucks and an ambulance came roaring down New Towne Haven Lane and pulled into the bus ramp.

The firefighters were kind enough to stay for almost two hours and gave several presentations to our CAES students, who loved coming out to enjoy the beautiful weather AND the opportunity to learn so much about fire prevention.

They even showed us the "Jaws of Life"....

....and explained how their air tanks worked.

The ladder truck was only extended 1/3 of the way, but look how tall it is!

One of the firefighters climbed all the way to the top!

The best part was when they allowed Mr. Goetz and Mrs. Novak to climb aboard the base of the ladder truck!  We tried to climb to the top, but Mr. Goetz was afraid that his hair might be messed up by the wind.
Perhaps we need to run for political office!
A very special thank you to the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department for coming out to Carrollton Elementary and giving our students a very special lesson about the importance of Fire Prevention!
