Sometimes you take for granted that everybody "knows" what a program is and how it works. Mrs. Branch, one of our outstanding Kindergarten teachers, just posted an awesome explanation of what Accelerated Reader (AR) is and how the program works. I've included the link here:

The Carrollton Public Library had a volunteer catalog their entire elementary inventory into the AR system. Thus you can take your CAES student to the Carrollton Library to find AR books. Your student can then take their AR test in their classroom or in one of our computer labs. We have one of our computer labs open every day from 8:35 until Morning Announcements begin at 9:05 for students to take their AR tests. The CAES Library is open every day until 9:05 for book check-out.
