CAES Teacher of the Year

A BIG Congratulations goes out to Ms. Emily Jones for receiving the 2012-13 Carrollton Elementary School Teacher of the Year!!!

Ms. Jones is in her 2nd year as the Physical Education teacher at Carrollton Elementary.  She spent her previous three years at Hardin Reynolds Elementary School in Southwest Virginia.  Ms. Jones grew up in Williamsburg as the youngest of three siblings but ventured out to SWVA when she attended Radford University.  She played 4 years of Field Hockey there and was the Captain her senior year.  In addition to her Bachelors degree, Ms. Jones has earned a Masters in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University in Pennsylvania.

Although Ms. Jones is only in her 2nd year at CAES, she has already made a significant impact in improving the health and physical activity levels of our students.  She has spearheaded the CAES presence at the Smithfield Hog Jog for the past two years, is in charge of Field Day, and is just an all-around proponent for healthy living.  Ms. Jones has an infectious smile and positive energy and is such a wonderful teacher to have at Carrollton.

Ms. Jones will actually become Mrs. Madden on July 13th after she gets married.  So clearly Ms. Jones/Madden is having a BUSY but very productive and noteworthy year.

Congratulations again to Ms. Jones on being selected by her peers at CAES as the Carrollton Elementary School 2012-13 Teacher of the Year!!!!
